Organic dog food. Organic dog food is dog food that has no antibiotics, pesticides, herbicides, preservatives or artificial hormones. These things must not be added to the ingredients after they’re processed nor must they be added to the living beings that ultimately supply those ingredients. This means chemical fertilizers are not used on the plant material if there is any and cows, lambs, pigs or other animals haven’t been genetically tampered with. There are different degrees of organic. In dog food labeled “100 percent organic,” everything in the container must be organic. “Organic” means that 95 percent of the ingredients are organic, while “made with organic” means that at least 70 percent of the food comes from organic sources.
