Crate training. Crate training can be helpful in several ways. It teaches the dog a quiet place to be out of the way, gives the dog a safe space as a den, and can help with potty training. Never begin by forcing the dog into the crate. Rather, set the crate up and place a treat or favored toy inside. Wait for the dog to explore the crate and reward the independent action. After the canine is comfortable entering and leaving the crate and is willing to relax inside it, try shutting the door for a few minutes at a time. Build this time up. Dogs naturally will not want to use the bathroom inside of their dens, so this helps build up bladder strength in growing puppies as well as creating peaceful nights with the puppy safe in his crate.
